Goc Gdc Call – How True Is This?
We have been receiving mails from readers complaining of annoying calls from Goc Gdc using this number – (866) 864-5835. They use a transferring system call that shows GOC-GDC.
Once you answer the telephone or when you try to call back, The automated message says “Government of Canada”, making you think it is legit. But it is in fact a scam.
The call is quickly transferred to scammers. They cannot let you listen to the full message of the government voice mail. They only let you listen a little bit, just the first sentence. Then, the telephone is automatically transferred to them.
How does This Scam Work?
The scammers claim they’re from Canadian Revenue Agency. Then they request for your personal info. If you fail to do so, they bug you with calls, and threaten to cut off people’s retirement.
What Should You Do?
If you are unsure of a number saying that they are from a Canadian Government Agency, Call 1-800-O-Canada and they will confirm if the number is legit. Secondly, ignore the calls, and block any suspicious number.
