Elon Musk Energy Saver Scam 2023: Sham Electricity Saving Device!

Have you come across an advertisement online of an energy saving device endorsed by Elon Musk & Tesla? Don’t be deceived! The product ‘Pro Power Saver’ is a scam and the endorsement from Elon Musk is fake.

The ad make the following claims;

  • Elon Musk’s New Electricity Saving Invention Has Virginia Residents Saving Up to 90% Off Their Monthly Electric Bill. Electric Power Companies Are Demanding It Be Banned Immediately!”
  • Elon Musk’s New Electricity Saving Invention Has California Residents Saving Up to 90% Off Their Monthly Electric Bill.”

In reality these claims are not true. They are just pure sales gimmick. Even the so called Fox News article is fake. Fox News never wrote this article and scammers are simply pretending to be Fox News.

Why It’s a Scam;

Pro Power Saver is not endorsed by Elon Musk. A reverse image search on the image of Elon Musk holding an energy saving device showed Elon Musk was never originally holding anything in his hand. It is simply a Photoshopped image.

Meanwhile, as a professional electrician I’ve taken a close look at Pro Power Saver device and see it’s nothing but a scam, a fad product. It cannot slash your power bill up to 1% or even 50%. It also cannot filter dirty electricity as claimed. Meanwhile, Voltex, Voltbox, Watt Rescue, Ecowatt, Miracle Watt, are names which it was called in the past. When you click on the links, you’ll see tons of complaints from users calling it BS. If I were you I wouldn’t go an inch near it, except of course you just want to use it as a toy.

What You Need To Know Before Buying & Using Pro Power Saver Energy Saver

First of all, as an electrician myself,  the only one way for anyone to save on electricity and that is not to use it. Any device that claims it can reduce electricity usage is simply selling you a lie. Getwattsave.com claims there’s some kind of science behind the product.  However, not only is the ‘science’ complete hogwash, but even the so called endorsement by The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, NBC, ABC, USA Today, is totally fake. These broadcasting companies do not endorse Wattsave, they’ve also not mentioned it in any of their shows.

Secondly, Pro Power Saver is not equipped to save energy. When I dissected it, I discovered it only contains a capacitor placed across the power line. This actually might do a little bit of power factor correction, but you are not billed for reactive power at home. So it saves you nothing in money. It probably has *just enough* effect that the statements in the ads are not complete lies, but the device is still completely useless in general.

Meanwhile, there’s the danger of electrocution. The capacitor inside the Wattsave is not rated for connection across the AC line. It is a fire hazard if there is a lightning strike nearby. Capacitors connected directly to the AC line are supposed to have an “X” rating for safety.

Thirdly, it can not reduce electrical consumption. What you should know is this ‘There is NO WAY any device of this size can stabilize a home electrical AC supply or produce the savings advertised. Electrical consumption is based on total power consumed and NOT phase corrected VAR.

Pro Power Saver Alternative: 5 Easy Ways to Reduce Your Power Bill

Below are top 5 ways to reduce your electricity consumption and get a lower electric bill the coming months –

Shutdown your computer

If you work from home or run an office, your computer is likely the culprit causing you high electricity bill. Computers are some of the biggest energy users in office buildings. Turn your monitor off at night and ditch the screensaver.

2. Choose Energy Saving Bulbs

For your information, LED bulbs are the most energy efficient lighting option. It use 75% less electricity than incandescent bulbs. The also have no mercury, and last about 25 times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs. So opt for LED bulbs over incandescent bulbs.

3. Unplug Idle Electronics.

You have devices like televisions, microwaves, scanners, printers, etc.? Unplug them after use! They use standby power, even when off. Some chargers continue to pull small amounts of energy, even when plugged in (a good judge of this is if a charger feels warm to the touch). In the US, the total electricity consumed by idle electronics equals the annual output of 12 power plants (EPA).

4. Use a Power Strip to Reduce Your Plug load.

To avoid forgetting to unplug your devices, use a power strip to turn all devices off at once. Flipping the switch on your power strip has the same effect as unplugging each socket from the wall, preventing phantom energy loss.

5. Turn off the lights

This is very important. Especially when you’re not making use of the light. Just one switch and you’re done!
