Does The Viral Wrinkles Schminkles Patches Work On Wrinkles? We Asked A Dermatologist

Wrinkle patches are trending on social media, with many people showing before-and-after results on platforms like TikTok. They claim these patches smooth smile lines and forehead wrinkles in just a few uses. One of such products is the Wrinkles Schminkles Patches.

Basically the manufacturers claim these patches help with building up moisture and allowing the wrinkles on your face to diminish. But how true are these claims?

Made from medical grade silicone, the manufacturers claim all you need to do is apply the pad before bed. We talked to experts to find out if these patches are worth trying. I had the opportunity to test it myself and here is an unpaid review of the Wrinkles Schminkles.

About Wrinkles Schminkles And Why We Tried It

Wrinkles schminkles is a beauty brand that sells silicon anti-aging products. The silicone patches are made from medical-grade material that you can reuse. There are different patches for the face, chest forehead, mouth and hands.

The idea of the brand is to keep your skin stretched out so that it takes longer to form wrinkles. It’s like using weights to flatten a rolled-up poster. However, I was not convinced by the brand’s claim that silicone hydrates the skin, increases blood flow, and stimulates collagen production. It just doesn’t seem to add up. So I tried it instead.

I Tried The Forehead Wrinkle Patches

I tried the Forehead Smoothing Kit, which comes with two silicone patches designed to be used multiple times while you sleep after I saw it on shark tank. I wasn’t too into the Frownies, because as someone else said, I felt like they would take the top layer of my skin with them. I’ve since switched to silicone patches, the Wrinkles Schminkles brand, to be specific, and I noticed difference in my forehead lines. I simply ordered from Amazon and it arrived within 5days.

unboxing

I followed the directions. Washed my face and did not put any other products on it. It stuck to my checks just fine but for my main troubled areas(forehead), it slipped off within few minutes. What it did do was smother my skin and after a couple of nights wearing it all night, caused a breakout.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have a great experience with this product. The patches didn’t last as long as advertised, and the adhesive didn’t stick well to my forehead throughout the night, even after washing them with the recommended soap. Overall, I didn’t find them very effective.

Does The Schminkles

To some extent yes. It’s only recommended for light wrinkles, that means if you have deep wrinkle like a brow wrinkle between, it won’t work. The product I think would work really well if you have clear, balanced skin. If you are prone to acne at all though, it will pretty much just cause breakouts.

Also the adhesive is a joke, It slides all over as you sleep

My Take on Silicone Patches for Wrinkles: What the Experts Say

I’ve been hearing a lot about these silicone patches for wrinkles, and I wanted to know if they’re really worth it. According to dermatologist Brendan Camp, they can make your skin look smoother because they pull moisture to the surface, which hides fine lines and wrinkles. However once your skin goes back to normal, those wrinkles pop right back up.

Now, these patches are pretty easy to get and they don’t cost much, unlike other fancy treatments like lasers or Botox. But, here’s my take: they might not be worth the hassle. Sure, they can make your skin look better for a bit, but the effect doesn’t last long. So, if you’re like me and you want a real fix for those wrinkles, you might want to look into other options instead.

Pros

  1. It’s reusable
  2. They work well for a couple of hours
  3. Makes noticeable difference with regular use
  4. The patches are comfortable and easy to use

Cons

  1. They lose their stickiness after 3 to 4 wears
  2. It’s a bit pricey
  3. The effects does not last

How Customers Tried

Many customers seem to love this product and most of them have shared their reviews on Amazon and many online websites. I picked up some reviews from Amazon as:

These are a lot thinner then the other ones Ive tried, which allows them to stick and stay stuck way better. So comfortable to sleep in. I have only used them for a week, but my forehead looks great for the first few hours of the morning then it looks normal.

Initially on the first try I did not peel the patch off correctly, causing it not to be attached to my forehead properly. When peeling the patch off of the card, you then need to peel the patch shaped plastic off the patch, that is the side you place on the forehead! I see in some of the reviews the same issue. After one night of basically sleeping with a piece of plastic to my head the correction was made and the patch stayed on easily to my forehead all night. It was light weight and comfortable.

Sadly this product does not work. They say you’re supposed to sleep with it on and I woke up with it crumpled off my face and on the ground. I tried multiple ways to use it and it sadly did not work. Put it on clean skin and still didn’t stay on forehead. Not worth the money. Frownies work better. Even used a different silicone patch that works better.

Where To Buy

You can buy Wrinkles Schminkles online. Here are the prices: Forehead Wrinkle Patches (2-pack): $29.95 on Brand website and Amazon. Eye Wrinkle Patches (3-pack): $29.95 on Amazon, $28.99

Here’s How To Use

  1. Clean and dry your skin well, making sure it’s clean and dry.
  2. Take off the plastic cover from the Silicone Patch to show the sticky side.
  3. Put the Silicone Patch on the spot you want to treat, sticky side down on your skin.
  4. You can wear it overnight for the best results, or wear it for 1-2 hours if you want a quick fix.
  5. When you’re done, gently peel off the patch and stick it back onto the storage sheet.

Our Verdict

They do temporarily smooth out the wrinkles for a hour maybe so over time they could help. Through trial and error I’ve learned, however, that the pads don’t typically last as long as advertised. They get dirty even if you think you are putting them on clean skin. They sell a cleaner according to the directions but I haven’t looked too much into that yet.
