My Saatva Mattress Review After 2 Weeks Of Sleep

Finding the best mattress for your needs is hard. The bed-in-a-box industry is not so much crowded as heaving. It’s easy to be blinded by the sheer number of options. The Saatva mattress claims to be the best for back and side sleepers but is it worth the hype?

With this in mind, i’ve taken a more in-depth look at the saatva mattress and have decided to test it out. Keep scrolling to see my comprehensive review.

About The Saatva Mattress

The Saatva mattress makes some bold claims about being made up of two layers of springs, giving it a traditional innerspring feel with high firmness and support. The bed is also available in a 14.5-inch model. The brand also offers topper for cooling. It comes in three firmness levels: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm, catering to different sleep preferences. Naturally, we put it to the test.

How I Tested The Queen Size Luxury Firm Saatva Classic

In order to assess the quality and comfort of the mattress, i tested this mattress over the course of a number of weeks to see whether it really does have the power to revolutionise my sleep.

Let me walk you through the layers of my Saatva mattress:

I did a lot of research and came up with Saatva as the best option for me. The purchasing experience was fine. The delivery was completed on time, however, the two men delivering the mattress were clearly under the influence of, and smelled strongly of, a substance they had been recently using. Also the frame was missing, when I reached out to the company they said it was sold differently.

Foundation Layer: At the bottom, there are steel coils and foam edges. These give me support and bounce, and the foam edges ensure I can use every inch of the mattress.

Zoned Support Layer: In the middle, there’s a layer of memory foam. It’s there to support my hips and lower back, which is super important for my comfort.

Support Layer: This layer has coils that move independently, so they adjust to my body as I move. They keep me cool and comfy all night long.

The mattress was way harder than I expected, when I reached out to customer service, it was basically nonexistent.

Pros:

  • It has three different levels of firmness
  • Has pressure relief for joint pain
  • Breathable, naturally anti-mold cover
  • Free old mattress removal
  • The company offers a lifetime warranty
  • Comes with a 180 days sleep trial that offers a full refund.

Cons

  • Unlike some other beds, this one doesn’t come in a box.
  • While you can return the bed if you’re not satisfied, you’ll have to pay $99 for shipping it back to the company.
  • The foundation does not come with the frame

Customer Complaints

I discovered lots of customer compmaint on third party review websites like Reddit, customer reports. Some customers complain about the great customer service and horrendous logistics and sagging problemsthey received from the company

I have had this mattress for a couple of years now. I had to get it replaced within the first year because it sagged on the side that I sleep. The woman I spoke to about it told me I should sleep in the center of the bed instead of the side!! Well, a year or so later it is sagging again and I awake with body aches….back, shoulders, neck. You no longer can flip mattresses. Just turn them. Now both sides sag! It’s also firmer than I would like (due to the recommendation of the spokesman when purchased). I am disappointed since I thought I was buying a great mattress for a great night sleep.

On Jan 4th I purchased a SAATVA Solaire air mattress and frame for almost $8,600. At the time, I was told the mattress would be delivered and set up with White Glove Service between Jan 13 and Jan 22. I checked online for order status, including today, to see this date range has not changed, and I have not been contacted by SAATVA to advise of any issues with the order or delivery, or when the delivery will be accomplished. They did, however, take my money without any delay.

The ADUSTABLE Base massage is VERY LOUD and doesn’t seem it was properly installed..The assembly guys said, “It will be quiet when the mattress and someone is on it.” Not TRUE. Then I was told the mattress was rubbing against the base when they raised the head, so they will have to raise the bed. They also told me my order came with 2 extra pieces. 1 frame board and another very large metal frame for headboard. I had to call SAATVA and let them know what has transpired. I was told I had to setup another appointment for a new Santorini. I would be credited $200. As Gloria was setting up the appointment, I was told 3 to 4 weeks for next appointment. Then she tells me, “The Santorini is out of stock.” NOW I have to wait months possibly.

Do We Recommend Saatva Mattress: The Truth Behind The Too Good To Be True Claims

I would just like to warn people about a deceptive area in the Saatva Mattress website. An order was just delivered of a mattress, foundation, but no frame for the foundation. I later heard that this has happened to other customers. The website shows a picture of a foundation and a frame. It leads one to believe that you can either order the foundation and frame, or order the frame alone. I just now ordered a frame from another company. I spoke with customer service who stated that the foundation and frame are sold separately. Then why have a picture clearly showing the two pieces together. Hopefully my review of the actual mattress will be better.

Also, I want to mention their 365-night home trial. I bought a mattress, but it was too firm for me, and I couldn’t sleep on it. I tried reaching out to customer service twice and sent multiple emails, but I never got a response. Saatva says you get a 365-night home trial when you purchase a mattress from them. I definitely learned something by shopping at saatva.com – when shopping for a mattress, never purchase a bed you can’t touch first no matter what they ‘promise’. Their website says “We’ve built our reputation on being here for you, before and after you make a purchase.” That is a completely false.

Is Saatva Mattress Worth It

Yes, especially for back and side sleepers and for people who want luxury without spending a fortune. Saatva mattress has three different firmness options.

Conclusion

The Saatva offers a variety of mattress that suits lots of customers however the mattress was really hard for me and far from the soft surface I was promised.

Lesson learned: always try out a mattress in person before buying, no matter what promises they make online.

There are many mattresses out there that are fancier than Saatva’s, with more coils and even nicer materials like Simba mattress, Casper mattress
