Who Is Behind Google Gift Card Class Action Lawsuit

Google is getting sued because they’re accused of making money off scams involving Google Play Store gift cards, and they’re not giving the victims their money back. Apparently, even when scam victims reached out directly to Google and provided info to help get their cash back, Google didn’t cough up the dough.

Instead, Google kept a chunk of the money from these scams – like 15% to 30% of the face value of the gift card – and even put some of it into accounts for developers on the Google Play Store.

There is no settlement amount for now.

Judy May, who’s leading the charge here, got duped into buying $1,000 worth of Google Play gift cards. Later on, she reached out to Google to tell them what went down.

Lots of other people got calls from scammers, claiming they owed money for stuff like taxes or bail, and they had to pay up using gift cards and even dish out their Social Security numbers to avoid getting in trouble.
